The Impulse

The Impulse to Continue: Awakening, Tests, and the Call of Truth

soul healing tribe

There comes a moment on the awakening path when the process takes on a life of its own. For some, the initial awakening arrives without preparation—like a sudden storm that reshapes everything. For others, it unfolds slowly, demanding patience, humility, and persistence. But no matter how it begins, one thing eventually becomes undeniable: there is always an impulse to continue.

This impulse carries a deep recognition that we are incomplete, yet moving toward something vast and unshakable. It is the inner pull to discover our ultimate truth, to awaken hidden gifts, to live fully in presence, and to embody consciousness itself.

This is not a fleeting whim or passing desire. It is the very intelligence of Kundalini Shakti stirring within us—an intelligence greater than anything the mind or intellect can grasp. The mind and intellect are only sleeves, fragments of her power in motion. Once she awakens, we no longer truly have a choice. We may resist, but resistance only brings suffering. The river of Shakti has already begun to carve her way through the stone of our being, reshaping us from within.

Listening to the Inner Current

To move with this process requires cultivating an inner ear—a capacity to listen so deeply that even the smallest signals, symptoms, and whispers are not ignored. Kundalini tolerates nothing but truth. She strips away illusions, often pressing us against the wall of what we least want to see. And yet, these confrontations are gifts, because each moment of truth carries us into the next stage of growth.

Awakening is not about perfection. It is about participation. About showing up honestly, following intuition, surrendering to the inner impulse, and allowing the process to take us deeper—qualitatively deeper—into truth, effort, and integrity.

The Tests Before Breakthroughs

Something curious happens right before major breakthroughs, both in my own journey and in the journeys of many seekers I’ve spoken with: life seems to place before us the very things we have always longed for.

Love. Recognition. Security. Belonging. Partnerships. Money. Projects. The treasures that have tugged at our hearts for years, even lifetimes, resurface—shining and tempting—just as we stand on the threshold of transformation.

It is as though the universe itself leans close and whispers:

“Are you sure you want freedom more than this? Are you certain that awakening matters more than the fulfillment of these longings?”

This tension can feel unbearable. We begin questioning everything: Do I really want this? Why do I want this? What will happen to my path if I choose this direction? Am I ready to give up safety? It feels like standing at a fork in the road—sometimes two ways, sometimes many—each one tugging at different parts of who we are.

And then comes the deeper questioning: How many lifetimes have I waited for this moment, only to risk diverting myself once more into safety, passivity, pleasure, money, or distraction? Am I truly avoiding the pain of truth by running back into the arms of old illusions?

This is not cruelty. It is compassion. It is the precise way awakening tests our readiness. These trials reveal whether our desires are ready to dissolve, or whether they still bind us. It is a process of resolvation—the deep resolution of long-standing desires that have shaped us across lifetimes, perhaps even across thousands of years.

The threshold of awakening is guarded by these final choices: cling to what has always promised completion, or step beyond into the truth that no external thing can ever complete us.

Following the Impulse

The impulse to continue is the sign that awakening is real. It is the inner proof that the process is alive within you—that the work is not complete, and perhaps never will be. For awakening does not end; it expands itself endlessly. Once touched, we cannot turn away without pain.

And so, the invitation remains both simple and absolute:

Follow the impulse. Listen deeply. Let truth undo you. Allow Kundalini’s intelligence to carry you into what you have always been.

The tests will come. The desires will rise. But if you stay with the process, if you endure the tension and listen to the inner current, you will discover that beyond all temptation, beyond all longing, there waits a freedom your soul has been seeking across millennia.
